South Street Seaport after Storm--July 2011

Rainbow, Brooklyn Bridge

South Street Seaport, after storm

Before rainstorm, July, South Street Seaport

And I remember every moment/of those endless summer nights...

summer came and went without a warning...somehow the city doesn't look the same...

end of the night

End of another Saturday in NYC.

Saturday, in the park, I don't think it was the 4th of July...

goodbye and farewell

Damn. The one that got away.

someone's idea of fun, abandoned

Right in front of our building in the Bronx after a summer storm...

where I live

Down the street from where I live and love, early in the a.m., helped with a little saturation... the birds seem to dig it...

one woman's garbage...

sign, sign, everywhere a sign

summer in the city

...hold you again!

...if I could just...

...kiss the ground that you walk on, baby...

I'd fall down on my knees...

Amazing 4th of July pics :)

subway synchronicity

Hmm. Dig those trains.

I can read your mind/I can read your mind...

Nighttime sky near 33rd St. 6 train stop. Summer, 2011.

I am the eye in the sky/looking at you...

St. Pat's and down the street from St. Pat's this past spring. Pretty.

Creepy?

Found this on the side of the road on the way to work...hey Bronx!

step aside

what's to say?

the color purple

Yes, yes, another picture of purple flowers. What? You know what Alice Walker says, and I agree, and think of it every time I see my favorite color in nature: "I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it." from The Color Purple. AMEN!

the best and worst of times

As a adoptive New Yorker, I love and loathe the subway. Being able to move and read? Not needing to be sober to get somewhere? Not paying $300 for a ride to my home in the outer boroughs? Subway, baby. But as any one who has ever ridden the rails knows, the system ain't perfect. I heart ny.

Sunday afternoon in NYC

I took this picture after right after attending one of the Borders bookstore fire sales. I sat quietly and ate my Thai food, alone, after a weekend of hanging out with my parents and my hubby, and thought about how quiet can creep up on you, even in Manhattan, even in the middle of a weekend, even in the middle of traffic.
In front of where I work all day, there's a nice planted garden for those of us who cannot leave the building, and must find our nature and our garden in the planned plot of land alongside the highway, NYC.
Once upon a time, humans would speak and words would transfer from their mouths into these metal boxes...and magically reach people, well, throughout the world. Broken phone booth, subway platform, NYC 2011.

new york, new york

This may start out a bit rickety, but I'm already enjoying myself.
Here's another photo of my NY, circa 2011, Battery Park.

me in nyc #1

So. Welcome. Lucky for me, my husband is relentless and has suggested for months that I start a iphone-photo blog. So here we go. Mostly NYC, I just tool around, take pictures and play with them. I hope you enjoy--feel free to comment.
